Additional Information

HOW MANY PRACTICES AND WHERE ARE THEY LOCATED?
There are usually 2-4 practices a week beginning in mid-March until the beginning of League play.

Locations of fields will be determined by THPRD, but traditionally include Sunset High School varsity and jv fields, batting cages and Tualatin Hills complex fields.

HOW MANY GAMES ARE PLAYED?
There are 18-24 league games, plus various tournaments. Historically, the average number of games is more than 40.

HOW LONG IS THE SEASON?
Practices begin in mid-March, games begin in mid-April and can run through early-August if the team qualifies for District and State tournaments. League games are usually done in early-July.

WHAT IS THE COST?
$350 for 2018 Spring baseball. The registration fee includes hat, pants, fields, umpires, equipment, insurance, 1 tournament, and league fees. There may also be additional tournament fees.

WHAT EQUIPMENT IS PROVIDED?
Sunset Youth Baseball will provide the uniform (pants, jersey, belt, and hat).

Players need to provide their own cleats (metal or molded / FYI - Only molded cleats will be allowed on Sunset's new varsity baseball field), batting helmet, bat, cup (required to play!), and mitt.

WHAT IF WE LIVE OUTSIDE SUNSET'S BOUNDARIES, OR WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES, BUT WANT TO PLAY FOR A DIFFERENT JBO ORGANIZATION?
Waivers need to be requested and approved by Westside JOB for players to play outside their high school boundaries. These are considered exceptions and may or may not be granted depending on the number of players and the reason for the waiver. Sunset Youth Baseball will place Sunset boundary players on a team first, then seek waivers if situations dictate.

IS MY PLAYER GUARANTEED TO BE ON A TEAM?
Our goal is to place all registered players on a Sunset Youth Baseball roster. We will roster a minimum of 11 players per team. The number and skills of players participating will determine the number and levels of teams we offer. Although team placement can not be guaranteed on a Sunset Youth Baseball team, Sunset Youth Baseball works with neighboring JBO associations to find teams for all players. Players not placed on a Sunset Youth Baseball roster will have the option to find their own alternative, but Sunset Youth Baseball will work in coordination with neighboring associations to accommodate all players.

IS THERE FUNDRAISING?
Yes! To help keep our registration costs down and contribute towards tournament fees, it is expected that each player participate in league sponsored fundraisers.
